Let’s get to the truth of this answer straight away. NO! It won’t help with many of the symptoms of BPD, but that doesn’t mean it won’t help relieve at least some of them. While it isn’t going to help with many of the symptoms of BPD it might help with some like anxiety or depression. There are plenty of things to consider before buying a weighted blanket, but I will go through some of the main ones here so you can at least make an informed purchase…
More Expensive Doesn’t Mean Better Sleep
It doesn’t really matter how much a weighted blanket costs if it works for you, it will work. That is why getting the cheapest weighted blanket is always the best thing to buy for your first one. If you wish you pay more for one that is better weighted, or made of better materials after that then go for it. But weighted blankets don’t work for everyone, so paying more might leave you feeling even more disappointed that it didn’t work.
Do Weighted Blankets Really Work?
For myself and many other people, weighted blankets do help a lot. In fact, I don’t think I could sleep without it any more. But it’s not some magic answer to not sleeping, it’s not going to claim all your anxiety and restlessness overnight. Sadly, for many, it won’t do anything (hence the reason you should get a cheap one first). But if you think it will help you I highly advise you go for it. Just try one for a week or so and if it works you won’t look back.
Get The Right Weight
There are two main things to consider to get the right blanket weight for you. The first one is the size of the blanket and next, you should consider the weight. Why would you consider size before weight? Because a single sized 5KG weighted blanket weighs the same as double size 5KG weighted blanket. Double in size, does not mean double the wight and to get one the right weight for yourself you should consider trying to get one that is less than 10% of your own body weight.
Well, I hope that has cleared some things up for you and if it did help I would love to hear from you in the comments below. Do you have a weighted blanket yourself? Again, do drop us a comment below.
