This is a question that in truth is a non-question from the start. To ask it is to not really know anything about BPD which in itself is OK, but it’s not something you really want to be asking before you know what BPD is in the first place. But the question does have an answer and I hope this is what you need to hear when asking such a thing…
So…Is There a Cure for Borderline personality disorder?
To put it basically as I can the answer that question it is NO. But having said that you can indeed learn to live with BPD. It’s not like you are ever going to “cure” yourself, but you can indeed learn to live with it. Sadly BPD can be a life stopping disorder that often requires years of therapy to sort, but with various forms of help like possibly some form of medication, some counselling of sorts and plenty of self-help you can learn to just deal with those highs and lows of BPD as these are the points when you will need help and guidance the most.
Some people can fix themselves and learn to cope with their BPD in a matter of months and many others (like myself) take years to come to terms with the things our minds are dealing with. Some people will sadly never come to terms with BPD and that is because of the wide-ranging causes and conditions that arise from having this disorder.
Sadly there are no easy answers to fixing the problems BPD can cause as sometimes those conditions can be quite severe. The best way to even try to start curing yourself is by letting others know the things that are causing you issues. Maybe you are stressed, anxious or maybe you just don’t feel in control of yourself, by letting others know it will help them spot signs if you starting to get worse and that can be vitally important, especially in the early days of noting you have BPD.

I really don’t think there is such a thing as a normal life anymore. Having suffered with BPD most of my life I just can’t see myself getting any better. This site is a good resourse for all things relating to my condion, but its certainly never going to be a cure.
You can get better from BPD I have done it myself. Sure, it looks me years to do just that, but I go there in the end thanks to self help books and a lot of private counsaling.
I have been diagnosed with BPD for 13yrs now. And just now have I finally found the right therapist (which is essential for us to heal, the right therapist I truly believe that) there is hope!!! No, I will never be cured but I can re train my brain and learn the regulate myself. I’m currently in DBT and would highly recommend finding someone trained in that to help you. Much support and strength to you Sarah!!
